Paschim Banga Resham Shilpi Samabaya Mahasangha Ltd. (PBRSSM Ltd.)

PBRSSM Ltd. is an apex Cooperative Society under the Department of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises & Textiles, Govt. of West Bengal. It was registered on 26.01.1958 under the Bengal Cooperative Societies Act, 1940.

Main Objectives

To improve the traditional silk industry and to organise the silk weavers in Cooperative Societies.
To promote silkworm rearing, silk reeling, and weaving of silk fabrics.
Dyeing and printing of silk fabrics procured from the members.
To purchase and supply raw materials, tools, and equipment for members as and when required.
To finance affiliated societies.
To impart or arrange for business and technical training to members.
To provide facilities for the marketing of the finished products of the members of the affiliated societies in a profitable manner.
To organise and develop markets for silk goods within and outside the State of West Bengal and abroad.

Operations and Showrooms

The silk fabrics procured from the silk weavers of Bengal are sold at nine showrooms of PBRSSM Ltd., located in:

Dakshinapan Shopping Complex
Gariahat (Jasoda Bhaban)
Kankurgachi CIT Market
Uttarapan Shopping Complex
Barasat (Colony More)
Durgapur (Benachiti)
Siliguri (Opposite Tenzing Norgay Bus Stand, Hill Cart Road)

These fabrics undergo value addition in terms of block/screen print, hand painting, embroidery, batik, tie & dye, and woven designs for sarees/dupattas.

Quality Assurance

To maintain high standards of fabric quality, all materials are first checked and approved by the Procurement Committee, which includes:

Officers from Sericulture Directorate, GoWB
Scientists from the Central Silk Board, GOI
Officers from the Weavers’ Service Centre

Modernisation and ERP Integration

Along with its legacy of procurement and marketing of purest quality silk and tasar fabrics, Resham Shilpi focuses on modernisation. The core business processes such as sales, purchasing, accounting, and human resources are managed by ERP software developed by NIC, integrating all the showrooms with the Head Office.
