Affinity for Silk Artistry

Paschim Banga Resham Shilpi Samabaya Mahasangha Limited (PBRSSML) is a prominent federation of primary khadi cooperative societies established on January 28, 1958, under the Bengal Cooperative Societies Act of 1940. It promotes and sells exquisite silk products made by weavers’ cooperatives, including matka, eri, mulberry and tussar fabrics, which are enhanced through printing and intricate embroidery in collaboration with self-help groups. PBRSSML sources traditional Garad and Baluchari sarees, ensuring the preservation of handloom artistry.

The procurement process is overseen by a specialized committee of industry experts, including scientists from the Central Silk Board and officials from the Directorate of Sericulture, West Bengal, ensuring high standards of quality and authenticity. Through its commitment to supporting cooperative societies, PBRSSML plays a vital role in the growth of the indigenous silk industry in West Bengal.
