PASCHIM BANGA RESHAM SHILPI SAMABAYA MAHASANGHA LIMITED (PBRSSML) is a Federation of Primary Khadi Cooperative Societies formed for promotion and sale of silk items being produced by the Primary Weavers’ Cooperative Societies. It was registered on the 28 th day of January 1958 under Bengal Cooperative Societies Act, 1940 ( Bengal Act XXI of 1940).

PBRSSML procures silk, matka, tasar fabric (kora thaan) from Primary Cooperative Societies/ other enlisted societies. The fabric is then printed by enlisted printers. Self-Help groups are also engaged for embroidery on tasar, dyed silk. Garad and Baluchari sarees are also procured from the cooperative societies.

Procurement of silk fabrics is done through selection by the Procurement Committee comprising of experts in this field including Scientists from the Central Silk Board and Officials of the Directorate of Sericulture, Government of West Bengal.

The texture, weight of the fabric is scrutinized and then the price is determined as per the prevailing market price of silk yarn. Similarly, the costs of dye, other raw materials, quality of designs are also taken into consideration before determining the price of printed silk sarees.

There is stringent quality control, right from procurement to printing/surface ornamentation. This along-with exclusive printing & woven designs has made RESHAM SHILPI..... the ultimate destination for Bengal Silks.
